Shamy Bash

History

History

Shamy Bash, originally titled “Summer Bash” began in Toledo Ohio in 1997. Jason Shamy, a student at the University of Toledo, was living in an off-campus fraternity house, and decided to throw a party one summer weekend to promote his good friend’s newly assembled band. Scrounging the couches, car seats, and parts unknown he managed to gather enough money to purchase a pony keg, and the Summer Bash was born. The name Shamy Bash came years later in the Bash’s fourth installment, the second of two parking lot parties also held in Toledo. Friends looking forward to the event coined the term “Shamy Bash” and it stuck. The introduction of multiple bands, stage lighting, and event shirts lifted the Bash to the next level. Later the Bash would evolve into a 2 night camping and canoeing trip, with live music, and “Shamy Bash Idol”. Kevin Serres, and David Hemmert convinced Jason to take the event public, and v.c.r. productions llc was born.  With the additional help of Joe Hemmert and Jeff  Sodd, the group landed a venue that was no stranger to music related camping trips, The Historic Frontier Ranch Music Center. Currently held at Nelson Ledges Quarry Park, the event since it’s conception has hosted over 50 musical acts, many of which have returned for multiple Bash appearances. The summer of 2011 brings along the 13th Bash, at it’s 7th venue, it’s 2nd in six years. While the events venues and themes have evolved dramatically since its humble beginning, bringing people together of different walks of life with the use of multi-genre live music have always, and continue to be the staple of the event. We welcome you to join us as we add yet another chapter to this “backyard party that just won’t die.”
