The Camping at Nelson Ledges is a stellar experience, and is included in ALL Shamy Bash 2011 ticket prices. A few suggestions and knowing what to expect will help you plan a carefree stay with us at the quarry.
Camp Sites
Campsites are numbered and you can reference these numbers using the map on our festival layout page. Health codes require no more than 3 tents to a site, and they must be 5’ apart.
Arrival and choosing a site
Upon admission to the park, you will be directed in your vehicle to the main path on the left which leads to all primitive campsites. Sites are first come, first serve and are filled from the front to the back. We do this to avoid running out of space for people coming later in the weekend. Once a road is full, it is shut off for everyone’s safety. Continue driving until you see either an open path to turn onto, or a traffic director. Under no exception can we open a road to help you find or get closer to your friends or family who have already arrived. We suggest bringing a wagon for your gear (or better yet, try to show up together), a printed map of the Ledges, plus a communication device to help you find your party. Park where directed, and push, pull, carry your equipment to your desired alternative campsite.
Showers/toilets/electricity
Nelson Ledges is a semi-primitive campground, electricity is not available at individual campsites, however there are permanent toilet rooms similar to an outhouse, along with portable restrooms. Hot showers are available and are located near the front gate at no additional charge.
Transportation
Getting around the park is a very scenic and exciting experience. You are welcome to bring your bicycles, kayaks, rafts, wheelbarrows, strollers, and wagons to get around the park. You will not be able to move your vehicle or “cruise” the park after you have arrived.
Campfires
Campfires are permitted in the provided firepits, they must not be above waist height. Firewood is available for purchase at the front gate, along with wheelbarrows to borrow. Sometimes you may find one of our vendors passing through the campground with firewood in the back of his truck for sale.
Cooking
You are welcome to bring your own grills, coolers, etc. (but you really should try our food vendors). GLASS CONTAINERS OF ANY KIND ARE PROHIBIITED.
RV Camping
VERY limited and first come first serve. Please call the ledges for information (440) 548-2716.
Please help keep the park enjoyable by keeping your campsite clean. When in doubt follow the rule “Leave your campsite cleaner than how you found it.”
